I have recently read Crazy Love and The Christian Atheist that gave me quite a bit to thing about regarding how I live my life. Both books talk quite a what living as a Christian should be. Crazy love talked quite about about being lukewarm in the eyes of God.
Revelation 3:15-18
15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.
My pastor recently made the comment that showing up to church on a Sunday doesn't make you a Christian like standing in a garage doesn't make you a car.

Am I correct in surmising that the main point of this post is that the collection of material wealth is un-Christian? I have a different perspective on it, but I didn't want to put it out there unless it was actually relevant.
No, this has nothing to do with material wealth. Far from it, I would say that with wealth you would be able to amazing things for your family and for others.
Also, if good people didn't have wealth, by default only bad people would have it. Americans that say rich people are bad have a skewed view of things. If you have water, power and a roof then most of the world would say you are rich.
I was thinking of more in terms of the way Christ followers live their lives. If I all I do is going to Church on Sundays, and live my life no differently than a non-christian, am I really a Christian?
The idea of being lukewarm in the eyes of Jesus is not where I want to be.
